2013 Four Hearts
60% Zinfandel, 20% Petite Sirah, 20% Tempranillo
Deep, saturated ruby-red hues are the tell-tale signs of what awaits your senses. The nose reminds one of ripe boysenberry compote and black licorice. It’s rich and inviting begging you to linger a moment longer before taking a sip. The mouth possesses that “Wow” factor that makes the Four Hearts Vineyard special. We’ve been sourcing fruit from this dry-farmed vineyard since 2009, and it never ceases to amaze me with its combination of power and grace. This field blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo was co-fermented, allowing the grape components to marry from the very beginning, and while the wine showcases a youthful exuberance now, you will be aptly rewarded for lying some bottles down and allowing the wine to gain greater depth, complexity and refinement.
